These charming country houses are located in the rural area of a typical village of Boyacá, distinguished as a national monument and heritage village of Colombia, as well as being on UNESCO's tentative list of World Heritage Sites.
For the owners, these homes represent the perfect escape from city life. The design calls for two residences that share a common space with local stone flooring, local stone that is introduced to each home acting as a private foyer for each. Each house is designed in an "L" shape, with the foyer marking the intersection, separating the bedrooms from the social areas. This culminates in a terrace with memorable views of the valley and village.
The design features a contemporary mix, combining traditional pitched clay roofs with flat lines on some roofs. Indigenous materials such as adobe, wood, stone and clay have been integrated with white walls and black brick to create a vibrant contrast on the façade. The regenerative architecture is manifested in a shared garden between the houses, which serves as a focus for the main access to the complex and offers a serene space for enjoyment and connection with nature.
